Blurb:
How does the opportunity ever arise for one person to alter the destiny of a world?
As the nations of Angall move closer to a Holy War, the four Illborn are to face momentous challenges, while seeking answers about who they are and what their growing powers mean.
After Arion and Allana are drawn to opposing sides in the coming conflict, their mutual obsession threatens to bring ruin to them both. In Arlais, Leanna finds herself a target of both the Holy Church and of the killers who are closing in on her. And in Karn, Corin must respond to a deadly new peril, whilst coping with the devastating aftermath of the attack on his wife.
How will the choices and actions of the four shape each of their destinies? Only this much is certain; the mysteries of the Gate and of their dreams still await them, and there will be no peace for the Illborn.
My thoughts:
After the splendid journey that was ILLBORN and absolutely devoured it from cover to cover, I was a little anxious and nervous when I started the sequel - Aiduel's Sin.
I can safely say that Daniel Jackson rised the bar even higher in every aspect for book 2!
The story is delivered to us again through our familiar POV's from ILLBORN and picks up where book one left us speechless.
The journeys of Corin, Alanna,Arion and Leanna are more turbulent than ever and their search for answers about their powers or what they are continues while juggling with a looming war over their heads.
Lots of heart squeezing moments, moments that make you gasp from surprise and is absolutely fascinating to watch the changes and growth that transformed our characters.
The worldbuilding is expanding even more and, like everything else in this book is hitting another level, immersing you even further into the story.
It's needless to say that the writing style of Daniel is intricate and full of intrigue and information but at the same time easy flowing.Despite the page count it went like a snap of your fingers.
And I have to mention my love - hate relationship with the mini cliffhangers that he finishes every chapter and creates the snowball effect until you can't decide which chapter you're anticipating the most.
I saw someone in their review saying “I want book number 3 now!” and I can't ditto that more feverishly!
