Blurb:

Return to the world of Godkiller in this thrilling sequel to the #1 internationally bestselling fantasy debut, where Kissen and her companions must navigate lands of gods and demons to unravel a dark truth at the heart of their world.

Professional godkiller Kissen and her companions—young noble Inara and knight Elogast—return in a winding adventure in a world overflowing with magic, beauty, and danger.

My thoughts:

To say that I was excited to dive back into the Godkiller world with our beloved gang is an understatement.

Sunbringer is the second installment of the Fallen Gods series by Hannah Kaner and picks up where we left at the end of book Godkiller.

Each of our favorite characters, Elo,Inara and Kissen are drawn by their own missions that lead them in separate ways to try to sort out their emotions, what to do next and how to keep their home and loved ones safe by preventing a war.

For the first half of the book, there were a lot of groundwork and bits here and there happening that laid a wonderful foundation for the story and a lot of soul-searching for our characters.

That lead to a more laid-back start to the book that was a challenge for my impatient action seeking soul😂🙈

That's until the action kicks in, and it was fascinating to see Elo in his forte as a masterful strategist and a natural leader that gathers people around him with ease.

From all of them, I think I liked Inara's character arc the most. I was surprised and intrigued to see how everything she went through piled up and pushed her to a darker state of mind. She reminded me a bit of Anakin Skywalker and the phrase “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”.

A lot of scheming, politics, war tactics combined with more involvement from a plethora of different gods with different interesting abilities gives the book a remarkable atmosphere to live in.

And safe to say that after that gripping action and revelations in the finishing chapters….book 3 can't come soon enough!
