Blurb:
The Blood that Burns the Winter Snow is a short story set in the world of The Bound and The Broken.
Vars Bryer is a man of The Glade. He loves his wife, feels at peace in his home, and would give the air in his lungs to keep his children safe. But the past has finally found him, and it cares little for the wants and desires of men.
My thoughts:
The Blood that Burns the Winter Snow is a new captivating short story in The Bound and the Broken world, and it was part of The Advent of Winter anthology.
It may be short, but the story held a solid punch in terms of emotions and atmosphere, immersing you to the fullest when you read something by Ryan Cahill.
An emotional moment when, on a cold winter's night, our beloved character Vars Bryer returns home to the thing he would give his life for — his loving family.
But nothing is so simple, and the peaceful reunion is interrupted when Vars past comes and threatens the life that he made for himself.
As always, Cahill is a magician when it comes to fight scenes or battles and puts in your head every move, every swing with the weapon so vividly that you feel a part of it.
More so, in a short time, we have an intriguing glimpse at Bryer's character and that he would do absolutely anything and go through anyone when it comes to his family.
Like a shot of Italian espresso—short, strong but delicious story crafted splendidly, and I will finish with a quote to prove my point and make you wanting 😁😈
