Blurb:
Drue Emmerson wants one thing: vengeance. With her family slain by vicious shadow wraiths, she’s determined to defend her fallen kingdom. And that means carving out the hearts of every dark creature she can find.
Talemir Starling, celebrated warrior of the realms, has a dangerous secret: he’s a half-wraith, kin to the creatures wreaking devastation on the world. He’ll do anything to keep his true nature under control, especially around the woman who’s vowed to destroy him.
When someone close to Drue disappears, all signs point to Talemir’s kind. But he is determined to prove he’s no monster, and to seek answers of his own. Begrudgingly, the pair must join forces to uncover the deadly truth.
In a world of chaos and carnage, their attraction to one another is the one thing that might just spell the end of them both . . .
My thoughts:
I love diving back into Thezmarr and all its magic, alchemy, and shadows, and The Shadow Prince is a splendid, fast-paced addition. Driven by revenge after losing almost all of her family to wraiths, Drue is no longer a noblewoman but a skilled ranger protecting her people by hunting and eliminating those monsters. Talemir is the most famous and skilled warsword, holding a secret that no one should know: he is a half-wraith, and after the disappearance of people led to one of his kind... a ranger and a half-wraith find themselves together on a mission. It was fascinating to witness Talemir's internal battle with what he has become and the rough path he went through to find his footing and start the process of healing and embracing his change. I love how Drue played a key part in that journey of his, reminding him that evil is not what you are but what you do, and she learned beside him that not everything is black and white. I have to admit that Talemir is my favourite MMC in the Thezmarr world, and not even Torj can make me hesitate 😂🙈. Inhaled this book in no time and enjoyed it a lot ❤️
