My thoughts:
After the way the first book ended, I was genuinely anxious about 'To Dance with Death' and which direction its plot would take. I feared that we'd end up with a storyline where the main characters are apart for most of the story, but I am so glad I was wrong.
The heart and the driving force revolved around Vasalie and Anton, and their journey to find each other again amidst their underworld adventures.
Anton's character was portrayed in a way that was quite unsettling, which drew a lump to my throat, but that also made it the most rewarding part: witnessing his transformation and their interactions, banter, and quiet, meaningful moments that melt your heart with the belief that true love means always choosing that person, regardless of the obstacles.
The side characters took a bit of a backseat in a perfect way, only taking the spotlight at just the right moments to make an emotional and meaningful impact on the story.
For me, Sundar was the most intriguing of all.
The writing style, as always, was so smooth and immersive, shining at its best and vividly showing us the underworld with its unique vibe.
Safe to say, I enjoyed this journey to the fullest.
