This was not a fairy tale. And if it was, then she was not the princess in the story. Because her knight in shining armour wasn’t a knight. He was a spy, and a liar by trade.
Laynah is heartbroken after Finnigan abandons her, but she is determined to leave behind everything she knows in order to find him and learn the truth behind his departure.
But as their paths cross again, Laynah and Finnigan are both thrust back into a life of masks, deception and secrecy in a treacherous political landscape that forces them to question who they can trust.
As Laynah and Finnigan try to discover what they mean to each other, they become trapped between opposing factions—and all the while, the real enemy looms near.
Will they overcome the darkness that threatens to consume the world and find a way to be together? Or will the consequences of using dark magic finally catch up to them all?
Wizard's Unmasking is the thrilling conclusion of the Huskarl Duology, delivering more fantasy adventure full of court intrigue, dark magic and steamy romance.
My thoughts:
Wizard's Unmasking is the sweet and turbulent journey that concludes the delightful Huskarl duology by Jay Pellegrin ❤️
Diving back into this world right where we finished Wizard's Masquerade❤️ and the fantastic surprise is that we have Finnigan's POV that we craved so much in book one!
A lot of insight about his past, why he is what he is today and that some things and decisions from him are not what we thought at first glance in Wizard's Masquerade❤️
Except the dual POV, we have our favorite gang members returning with their distinctive presence, but the world expands further delivering a plethora of new characters that we love or love to hate!
And, of course, as a constant for me, my favorite character is the eccentric, colorful and a bit mad at times, Quinn's brother - Ramsey❤️
The plot in this book is a lot bigger and complex because somewhere along the way it's not only about huskarlship and love, but fighting demons, protecting the kingdom and finding yourself in the process!
Laynah’s character made a big leap with her character development from book one, and I was intrigued to see how she faced battles on so many fronts combined with inner uncertainties AND, as a bonus, difficulty – sorting out her feelings and relationship with Finnigan.
As I said, the world expands greatly, and we get to witness how different and beautiful place Kormend is with its distinctive look and traditions ❤️
Political intrigues, romance, spice, action….everything wrapped up in one amazing bundle that pulled on your heart strings throughout the chapters in every way – heartache, joy…you name it!
A bit sad and bittersweet that the journey in this world is ending, but the more than emotional and satisfying end helps to sooth the heartache.
