Avalon Spy Academy rules: spy on the fey, resist falling for your mentor, and try not to die in the process.
I spent five years saving up for a European vacation. But instead of drinking champagne on the beach, I get swept into a war of espionage between the humans and the fey.
It turns out, I have a magic power needed to fight an evil fey king. I'm quickly whisked off to an elite spy academy in a hidden realm. There, in the ancient and gothic halls of Avalon Tower, snobbery and brutal competitions are among the oldest traditions.
As if I didn't have enough trouble, my new mentor is Raphael Launcelot, a maddeningly sexy demi-fey who already ruined my life once. Now, I have to push his distracting allure out of my mind to focus on our mission. We're going into the Fey realm together. If we get captured, we’ll die horrific deaths–and humanity won’t stand a chance.
My thoughts:
Saving hard for a year and making plans so you can finally enjoy a glass of champagne and your favorite cake, dipping your feet in the wonderful beach. All turns to chaos instead, and you get dragged into the war between humans and fey. Not only that, but the powers you knew nothing about are the reason you end up in a secret spy academy in the ancient Avalon Tower.
And the cherry on top that the gorgeous Raphael Launcelot that broke your heart years ago is your new mentor. That's how fast things change for Nia Melisende.
Her character was interesting to follow because despite her shortcomings, despite her fear, she always acted and my favorite thing of all was that emotions were her main strength and what fueled her power. It was fascinating to see her growth from the girl that we saw at the beginning of the book and the different person we see at the end of it.
Following the relationship between Nia and Raphael and how they untangle the false image they've created in their heads for one another was nothing short of heartwarming.
Especially removing Rachael's protective layers and the rare moments his stone face cracks and him discovering she is not the shallow pretty face he thought her to be.
Wonderful implementing of lore mixed with fey, magic, war and fighting an evil fey king….
So the natural question is….When's book two out 😂😂😂❤️
