Blurb:

ONLY ONE CAN CLAIM THE POWER.

After the four Illborn have remembered their recurring dream in full, each of them must decide what they are going to do with their newfound knowledge.

On the island of Abass, Arion and Leanna must both choose between a return to Angall, and a dangerous journey into the war-torn Holy Land. In Andar, as Allana continues her ascent to power, she begins a deadly game of cat and mouse with Aiduel’s Guards and the Archlaw. And in Bergen, Corin must decide whether he needs to leave his homeland to pursue and to kill the others of his kind.

As their powers continue to grow, will fate draw the four together? And if so, are the dire prophecies of the Illborn destined to come true?

My thoughts:

I am always a bit nervous when I start a new book from a series I LOVE so much. But I can say that Gatebound is a splendid continuation of The Illborn Saga. The world becomes even richer and wider than it already was, and all that is complemented by the same impeccable writing style and gripping atmosphere as the previous two books. Friendships, epic battles, sea journey, a bit of grimdark moments here and there that I absolutely loved!

The story in Gatebound starts shortly after the events of Aiduel's Sin, and we witness all the action unfolding through our familiar POV's of Arion,Leanna,Corin and Allana with some tough decisions from the very beginning.

While Aiduel's Sin felt more like self searching and looking for answers for the characters in Gatebound, it was more like a game of chess. You're a front-row witness how all the pieces make their move on the board and how intricately their stories intertwine or affect the other like a ripple in water. Furthermore, the way all our main characters evolve throughout their journey and their motivations for gaining that immense power makes you wonder….in the end, are they so different from one another, and where is the thin line between good or bad?

Those questions were echoed by the complicated relationships between the characters and all the hard truths, emotional decisions, and rifts that transpired between them.

All that is addressed in a brilliant way that doesn't give you straight answers but instead makes you seek your own truth.

I won't get into detail what my favorite new friendship was because of spoilers …but I will say that I loved from the beginning the chemistry and friendship between Leanna, Caddin, and Amys and now even more!

Now that I finished book 3.....i sort of want book 4 NOW, but then again, I don't want the story to end 😂❤️🙈
