Murder Breeds Magic

All power comes with a price. In a world where magic is transferred by the act of killing another, Myddrin stands above the rest. Having accidentally killed the most powerful mage in all of existence, Myddrin now lives a peaceful life in isolation. But there is no such thing as peace in the land of Otor. War calls. The voices of the dead haunt him, and there is nowhere to hide.

Cursed with the deathly taint of magic, young Will must seek acceptance among the Knights of Aen. There, he must learn to touch the otherside, control his abilities, and decide for himself what is right, and what is wrong.

Tvora’s soul is broken. The price of vengeance was her sanity. Her companions help her keep a tenuous grasp on herself, but with the urgent need to absorb enough magic to sustain them, she is pushed to choose a side in the upcoming war. The question remains, will she choose the right one?

My thoughts:

So let me start with the fact that I loved all of Luke's books, and Soul Cage was no exception!

The most special thing for me is that he creates characters that ALWAYS resonate with you and feel close emotionally. And that comes from the fact that he makes them perfectly flawed, and you grow with them along the journey.

An intriguing story in a world where magic comes from the souls of the people you killed….and the more souls you absorb, the more powerful you become.

Witnessing the story from three POV's :

Myddrin - after an attack on Otor and accidentally killing the most powerful sorcerer, he succumbs to isolation and his vices in order to survive all that burden that comes with such power.

Will—a future Knight of Aen in training and struggling with all the bad things happening around him.

Tvora - not many can survive after being soul broken… but although with a high price, she succeeded and, along with her companions, she has a mission of her own that pushes her to a place she starts to question herself.

I loved all the characters, to be honest, but the most intricate one for me was Will.

He is a remarkable mix of strange, smart, brave in his unique way, and the way he deals with the obstacles and grief by analyzing, learning, and getting better was so intriguing to follow.

And I loved the way the book ended and how you think you have the answers, but the rug is pulled from under you, and suddenly, you have so many questions what will follow😂👌

In short, I want book two now!😂😂😂🙈
