Blurb:
A boy has lived his whole life trapped within a vast library, older than empires and larger than cities.
A girl has spent hers in a tiny settlement out on the Dust where nightmares stalk and no one goes.
The world has never even noticed them. That's about to change.
Their stories spiral around each other, across worlds and time. This is a tale of truth and lies and hearts, and the blurring of one into another. A journey on which knowledge erodes certainty, and on which, though the pen may be mightier than the sword, blood will be spilled and cities burned.
My thoughts:
First, I was drawn and fell in love with the exquisite cover of The Book That Wouldn't Burn, and after reading the synopsis, I was so intrigued that there was no going back.
A story that is the ultimate love letter to storytelling and the magic that are books.
I will start with the obvious that the writing style is so rich and captivating and, at the same time, throwing serious questions your way while weaving this intricate world and characters. There are so many gems that you want to store in your heart that I haven't highlighted a book so much.
A fantastic touch were the easter eggs about other books that we know and love. They gave me such a warm feeling and made me smile.
We witness all through the eyes of our two main characters, Livira and Evar.
The only way I can describe her is a tiny tornado full of mischief, curiosity, and drive that just can't sit still and always pushes for answers and, after her short captivity, ends up in a magical library where her journey begins.
Evar I would call a curiosity with a big heart seeking a way out of the stifling “prison” in the form of a library he is in.
The grand scope of the world and the way their paths intertwine and push and pull is an absolute storytelling masterclass that keeps you hooked all the way, seeking answers with them!
Such a unique idea that stays with you, and I want this review to serve as a love letter to this book from me.
