Blurb:

Enemies-to-lovers doesn't get more high stakes than a witch and a witch hunter falling in love in bestselling author Kristen Ciccarelli's latest romantic fantasy.

On the night Rune’s life changed forever, blood ran in the streets. Now, in the aftermath of a devastating revolution, witches have been diminished from powerful rulers to outcasts ruthlessly hunted due to their waning magic, and Rune must hide what she is.

Spending her days pretending to be nothing more than a vapid young socialite, Rune spends her nights as the Crimson Moth, a witch vigilante who rescues her kind from being purged. When a rescue goes wrong, she decides to throw the witch hunters off her scent and gain the intel she desperately needs by courting the handsome Gideon Sharpe – a notorious and unforgiving witch hunter loyal to the revolution – who she can't help but find herself falling for.

Gideon loathes the decadence and superficiality Rune represents, but when he learns the Crimson Moth has been using Rune’s merchant ships to smuggle renegade witches out of the republic, he inserts himself into her social circles by pretending to court her right back. He soon realizes that beneath her beauty and shallow façade, is someone fiercely intelligent and tender who feels like his perfect match. Except, what if she’s the very villain he’s been hunting?

Kristen Ciccarelli’s The Crimson Moth is the thrilling start to a romantic fantasy duology where the only thing more treacherous than being a witch…is falling in love.

My thoughts:

I'm still buzzing and all the emotions are swirling inside me into one emotional mess after finishing The Crimson Moth.

Taking a deep breath and starting with the basics. The Crimson Moth is the first installment of the series, with an absolutely stunning cover!😍 This captivating story immerses us in a time when a revolution leaves all witches and their sympathizers persecuted and purged by the Blood Guards. Living with her regrets and burden from that dark day, Rune is making it her mission to save every witch that she can by sneaking them from under the Blood Guards noses. Playing the vain and shallow aristocrat is the perfect ruse for her mission and the vigilante, The Crimson Moth.

Gideon is a feverish follower of the revolution and the most dangerous witch hunter there is.

But ironically, they both have to get close to each other to get what they want….the game of cat and mouse begins….but with dangerous consequences for the smallest misstep.

The amazing backstory of the characters that not only pulls your heart strings in all possible ways, but also makes the misunderstanding situations so wonderful and natural because of their past and the way it shaped their character and thinking. All that combined with dual POV gives us the full and immersive feeling to enjoy the story to the maximum.

As I said, so many emotional moments, with plenty of twists and turns and outsmarting the enemy, but also breathtaking chemistry between the love interests that I can only describe as deliciously painful. Because being together for them is a dance between opening old wounds, one of them or both getting hurt…while stealing small precious and tender moments between them❤️

After that heartbreaking ending, I need book two as a lifesaver, and I'll count the days to dive back in this world❤️
