Blurb:

In Epheria, you are the predators. Here, you are the prey. Almost four hundred years have passed since the fall of The Order. Four hundred years since the empire rose. Four hundred years since the last dragon egg hatched. In the icy wasteland of Valacia, Aeson Virandr searches for the one thing that could turn the tide of war: hope. But there is a reason no soul has ever returned from Valacia. Hope comes at a cost, one that can only be paid in blood. *Note: this is a companion novella to The Bound and The Broken series, not a standalone novella. Previous books in the series should be read first.*

My thoughts:

When you read the line “Welcome to Valacia" starting a new read from Ryan Cahill, you can't help but have a lump in your throat from anticipation!

I'm pretty sure he sold his soul to the devil because I'm astounded how he's able to give us so many outstanding books from The Bound and the Broken series in such a short time!

Jokes aside, The Ice is a companion novella and its story begins a year before the events in Of Blood and Fire.

Don't be fooled by the fact it's a novella, there's plenty of action and bloody battles that, as always, are amazingly crafted and although you know the outcome, still manages to grip you tightly and wouldn't let go.

The storytelling is focused mainly trough one character and the task of Aeson bringing the dragons back and with them…the crucial spark of hope that the rebellion needs.

Easier said than done…no wonder none returned to tell the tale from the icy wastelands of Valacia.

I was amazed how he managed to transfer all the cruelty of this place and at the same time show us its amazing beauty.

The perfect quote to sum it up, “Everything here hunts you. In Epheria, you are predators. Here, you are prey”

Splendid addition to the world of The Bound and the Broken with masterly crafted details, wonderful character moments, a few new faces, cultures, new creatures and all that to complement the action and tense moments that is the journey of retrieving the egg.

Time to catch up on some sleep now that I finished it like a mad person with no regards for sleep because I couldn't, and I would rather not put it down😂😂😂
